Preserving Maharashtra's Living Memory

Atmabhan Trust exists to conserve, document and celebrate the two traditions that gave Maharashtra its voice — Wari and Tamasha.

"Two traditions that gave Maharashtra its voice, identity and soul."

— Atmabhan Trust, Pune

Atmabhan — a word that embodies self-awareness, self-consciousness and self-realization — is the vision behind this magnificent art gallery dedicated to preserving Maharashtra's two most defining cultural traditions.

For centuries, Wari and Tamasha have conserved the social consciousness and cultural unity of the Marathi people. This gallery, being established near Pandharpur, will ensure this living heritage endures.

Mission

To build and sustain a permanent photo art gallery at Chinchani, near Pandharpur, that documents, preserves and shares the visual and oral history of the Wari pilgrimage and the Tamasha folk-art tradition for present and future generations.

Vision

A Maharashtra where the values of unity, equality and devotion embodied in Wari, and the truth-telling spirit of Tamasha, remain living, accessible parts of public memory — not fading folklore.
